Selena Tribute Concert & Community Showcase

Music • Culture • Community

Sunday, March 15 • 1:00 PM
Produced by Concerts in the Park

Thirty-one years after her passing, the music and spirit of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez continue to unite generations, cultures, and communities.

This special midday tribute honors Selena’s extraordinary legacy through music inspired by her iconic Astrodome performance and one of her final live shows — creating a shared cultural experience filled with pride, joy, and remembrance.

But this event is more than a concert.

Designed as both a landmark cultural celebration and a community-building initiative, the Selena Tribute Concert & Community Showcase also highlights the many nonprofit organizations serving Mexican families across the Lakeside region. Here, music and mission come together in a powerful expression of collaboration and care.

Why Selena Still Matters — Especially at Lakeside

Selena was more than a celebrated artist — she was a bridge builder. Her music lives at the intersection of Mexican and Mexican-American culture, speaking to identity, belonging, resilience, and joy.

Those values resonate deeply in a place like Lakeside, where international and Mexican neighbors live, volunteer, and serve side by side.

Bringing Communities Together

This concert represents a rare and meaningful collaboration between expat-led organizations and local Mexican nonprofits, using music as a common language that transcends borders and backgrounds.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Selena’s story remains especially powerful for young people. She showed that talent, discipline, and cultural pride can open doors — and that your voice matters.

By honoring her legacy, this event sends a clear message to youth across Lakeside:
your culture matters, your future matters, and your dreams are worth investing in.
