Summer Art Camps
In 2013, the Children's Art Program held its first Summer Art Camp at The Lake Chapala Society. More than 70 children participated in workshops covering a variety of artistic disciplines such as papier-mâché, jewelry making, printmaking, oil painting, watercolor, and T-shirt decoration. The pilot project was such a success that it has been held every year since.
In 2025, more than 200 children attended the five-day camp daily. At the end of each day, the children received a healthy lunch. On the Saturday following the camp, an art sale is organized where children who wish to sell their creations may do so, receiving 50% of the profits from their artwork sales.
The 2026 Summer Art Camp promises to be another great success. The camp will feature more than 14 different artistic workshops, including drawing, watercolor, recyclable and textile art, embroidery, crochet, and many others. It will take place from Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, with the art sale scheduled for Saturday, August 1.
Importance and Need for the Summer Camp
This camp is a vital initiative for our community, as it provides children with a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment during the summer break where they can learn, socialize, and develop in a well-rounded way.
Through its artistic workshops, the camp strengthens essential skills such as creativity, communication, teamwork, self-esteem, and problem-solving, all of which are key to both academic and personal development.
